Keith Olbermann blasts Ray Rice, Roger Goodell, Ravens (Video)
After TMZ released the complete footage from Ray Rice on the night he assaulted his then fiancee and now wife, Janay Rice, at the Revel Casino, the Baltimore Ravens could not handle the backlash or pressure and released Rice on Monday afternoon.
Rice can be seen punching his wife in the face and knocking her out before dragging her out of the elevator. The Ravens previously backed Rice throughout the process, even holding a press conference for him to apologize to all involved and believed the two-game suspension handed down was fine before quickly changing their tune on Monday.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, the one who initially gave out the two-game suspension, has now suspended Rice indefinitely.
To open up his day time show, Olbermann, Keith Olbermann blasted Goodell and the NFL and called for everyone involved, including Goodell, to resign.
Deadspin has the video here, which includes a transcript of his rant.
"Commissioner goodell must Resign. If he must not do so, nfl owners Must fire him.Mr. Goodell’s ineptitude has not Merely rendered this football Season meaningless and Irrelevant by contrast, it has Reduced watching football to a Disrespectful act and it has Comforted the violence and Afflicted the victim. His push to increase nfl Domestof domestic abusers to one Third that of repeat pot Smokers, his decision to suspend Rice indefinitely today are Elements of classic tragedy Wherein the right thing is done Only after it’s too late to Matter."
Although the NFL claims they never saw this Rice video, that seems a little far-fetched with just how powerful the league is and if they all have indeed seen the footage before Monday, Olbermann has a point.
