NFL Overreactions Week 1: Jaguars lose, regain identity
Jadeveon Clowney decides to get injured in season opener… AFTER getting the money
The Texans first overall draft pick Jadeveon Clowney decided to finally allow himself to tear his knee in Sundays season opener against the Washington NFL team (whose name we shall not mention to avoid racial issues) after doing everything to avoid injuries in college. Since he already got paid the big bucks from being drafted first overall, Clowney is now expected to use the injury time to go on what he calls a “much-needed” vacation.
Texans rookie outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney may have torn his meniscus in his regular season debut at Washington today, an injury that could require arthroscopic surgery. He left the game late in the second quarter after landing awkwardly onto the ground and did not return.
“We’re consulting with doctors and trainers right now,” Texans head coach Bill O’Brien said after Houston’s 17-6 win.
“I’m not sure about the status, but I will say right now that they think it’s a good prognosis, so it looks like he’s going to be OK. He may miss some time, he may not. Who knows? We’ll know better as the week goes on.”
Injuries are nothing new for the first-overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft. Clowney had surgery to repair a sports hernia in June and missed two weeks in the preseason after suffering a concussion from a helmet-to-helmet hit during a joint practice with the Denver Broncos.
