NBA suspends Greg Monroe two games for driving while impaired
By Josh Hill
The Detroit Pistons recently got big man Greg Monroe to agree to a qualifying offer that will see him stay in Detroit for at least another season. But that final season in Detroit will have two games knocked off the top, as the NBA has suspended Monroe without pay for the first two games of the season.

According to Yahoo! Sports insider Marc J. Spears, as well as other reports, the NBA has suspended Monroe for driving while visibly impaired. It’s a suspension that comes after Monroe plead guilty to the charge in court.
It’s not a devastating suspension as the Pistons first two games of the season will likely have little meaning on their entire overall record. But not having Monroe out there for the first two games is something the Pistons didn’t really want to deal with, as he’s still a talent and starting out 2-0 wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world given how stout the Central Division is this year.
Monroe was the subject of a lot of chatter this offseason thanks to his wanting a larger contract with another team outside of Detroit, but his season will now ironically start without him being paid a single dime for the first two games.
