For the first time in his professional career Eli Manning is learning a new offensive system under new offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo. EPN’s Dan Graziano went on SportsCenter to discuss the transition and reported that there is concern over how much Manning is buying into McAdoo’s offense.

Notably that Manning is “still having issues with the footwork and timing aspects” of McAdoo’s system. The big part of McAdoo’s offense, or appeal to the Giants, is his west coast offense which focuses on quick passes. Despite quicker passes, the Giants are still having protection issues.

NFL analyst and former head coach Jon Gruden suggested it might be more about a conflict between personnel and system.

“You don’t just wave a flag and say, ‘We’re gonna look like the Packers’ because you got the playbook,” Gruden said, via ESPN.

Eli Manning, and at his age, isn’t necessarily a west coast quarterback.

Opposing coaches are noticing too.
