An update on the super-secret behind-the-scenes drug policy negotiations currently going on between the NFL and players union.

According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, there has been a major development regarding pot testing thresholds, a development that could have immediate positive implications for about 20 players.

The name on everyone’s mind is Josh Gordon, who is currently facing a year-long ban for multiple offenses including a failed marijuana test that he attributes to second-hand smoke.

Browns fans are hoping Gordon will have his entire suspension wiped out once the NFL gets rid of its insanely strict pot testing standards, but Mike Cairns reminds us there’s more to it than just the failed pot test:

The NFL is reportedly also negotiating to alter the way it punishes players for DUI, proposing that an arrest lead to an immediate one game deactivation with pay and a full suspension only after the case has gone through the courts.

There’s no way of knowing yet how all these developments will affect the Josh Gordon suspension, but Browns fans are certainly hoping that he will soon at least have his punishment reduced.

There’s a car dealership in Cleveland that could soon be looking for a new salesman.
