For the past few days we knew that the news regarding Ray Rice and the NFL would not be going away anytime soon, however on Wednesday, things were taken to a whole other level when the AP published a report which stated that law enforcement officials were confirming that not only did they send a copy of the tape of Rice punching out his future wife, but they had voice mail evidence that the league acknowledged they were in possession of the footage.

Immediately after this was revealed, a spokesperson for the NFL noted that they were sticking to their guns and are still not aware that the tape had ever reached anyone in New York.

Something has to give here, and that’s why it’s no shock that the NFL Security Office is stepping in to see if they can clear some of this mess up.

According to a report from Pro Football Talk, they are aware from a league source that the matter will be investigated by the security office.

“We are looking into it,” that source said. “Our security department will be doing everything we can to determine if this is true.”

This is all well and good, but then it’s also not so well and good at the same time.

Sure, it’s nice to see that the league is being proactive about all of this, as with any other serious matter, like the one that was brought to light on Wednesday.

However, given everything that has happened, it’s going to be might difficult for anyone to trust an organization that’s affiliated with the league, especially their own security office.
