The Ray Rice situation is now becoming just as much about negligence as it is about abuse as all too often the two go hand in hand with one another.

More from NFL

Roger Goodell has come under intense scrutiny for his mishandling of the situation as not only did he not suspend Ray Rice the adequate amount of games the first time around but he is seemingly covering up the fact that the NFL had the tape that was released on Monday as many as five months ago.

According to Mark Maske from The Washington Post, not only is Goodell not interested in stepping down but he plans on never stepping down due to public pressure to do so.

This is quickly turning into a situation where it sounds like there will be a power struggle for control of the league office. Goodell doesn’t want to and has no plans to step down as commissioner as that would be the ultimate admittance of guilt.

It’s going to be interesting to see how this all plays out, but the NFL is in hot water right now and while it’s possible that Goodell scapegoats an intern for missing the delivery, he’s forever going to have his legacy marred by this incident.
