If it were up to Bullups, he’d be in.
“The Hall of Fame would be a big dream,” Billups said via Marc J. Spears of Yahoo. “It marks you down as one of the greatest players ever. It’s not what I shot for, but that would absolutely be a dream. I know in my heart I had a Hall-of-Fame worthy career. If you look at most Hall of Famers, I don’t know how many of them started off the way I started off and made it to the top.
“I don’t know what will happen. I do feel I had a Hall-of-Fame career. But there have been a lot of Hall-of-Fame careers other than me.”
Billups was never viewed as a super but the Finals MVP could go a long way to towards getting him into the Hall.
Billups was selected by the Boston Celtics with the third-overall pick in the first round of the 1997 NBA Draft but spent just one season there. In addition to the Celtics and Pistons has also played for the Toronto Raptors, Denver Nuggets, Orlando Magic (although he didn’t actually appear in any games), Minnesota Timberwolves, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Clippers.
Last season, Billups averaged 3.8 points, 2.2 assists and 1.5 rebounds in 16.3 minutes per while appearing in just 19 games. In his career, he has averaged 15.2 points, 5.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game.
