After having a solid season helping the Brooklyn Nets cope with a season-ending injury to Brook Lopez and the various ailments of Kevin Garnett, Andray Blatche hoped to cash in. However, even after an excellent performance during the FIBA World Cup, he remains unsigned.

Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders believes it may take an injury to get Blatche back into the league and isn’t ruling out a return to Brooklyn.

"Blatche played well in the World Cup, so it’s possible he lands an international deal if a NBA job doesn’t open up.Like Beasley, Blatche is still being paid by the Washington Wizards who amnestied him with several years left on his deal. Blatche will be paid $8.4 million by Washington this season, so there is no urgency for him to agree to something that doesn’t make sense for him. It’s possible that Blatche opens the season as a free agent and sign somewhere after an injury. The Brooklyn Nets still have a cap hold and rights to Blatche, so a return to Brooklyn isn’t a stretch either."

Blactche reportedly has had locker room issues but he is a very talented big man and his size and skill should get him another opportunity.

Blatche averaged 11.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 47.6% from the field, 27.8% from beyond the arc and 74.2% from the charity stripe for the Nets last season. In his nine-year career, the 49th-overall pick in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft has averaged 10.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 0.9 steals per game while shooting 46.7% from the floor, 23.7% from beyond the arc and 72.5% from the charity stripe.
