The NBA offseason is winding down, but there are still some decent free agent names to be had on the open market. One of those names is center Emeka Okafor but he’s as much a wild card now as he’s ever been.

We can thank Okafor’s health for the concerns about his future but those concerns may start to become more and more unfounded as his neck and back continue to heal.

As Steve Kyler from Basketball Insiders opines, Okafor may not find a team until after the season starts, as despite being the best center available he’s not yet healthy enough to be considered anything but a waiting process.

"Word is Okafor has made a ton of progress, but isn’t ready physically for training camp. He is expected to explore options in January once he’s a little further down the road.Okafor is unlikely to be in camp with anyone, but it does seem like he wants to play this season, the question is which team lands him and how much will he cost?"

Okafor is a stout center and he’s someone that can help the likes of the Miami Heat or Cleveland Cavaliers as both teams are in dire need of help at center. He’s not the only option on the market though as Nazr Mohammad is grabbing some attention and others will too.

Still, there will be a team that takes a chance on Okafor is he’s healthy and that’s all dependent on where his health is when teams start truly looking for help.
