Lance Briggs defends commitment to Chicago Bears
By Cory Buck
The Chicago Bears are already in a state of panic after having lost to the Buffalo Bills in Week 1. Some of that bewildered ire has been turned on linebacker Lance Briggs, whose dalliances with a restaurant opening and a late night out made him an easy target. Briggs, however, has not backed down in the fact of criticism and maintains he’s as committed as ever to the Bears.

“I don’t think you know what I do every day,” Briggs said per the Chicago Sun-Times. “I don’t think you have any idea. I’m here early. Every day that I’m here, I get a lot of treatment on my body. I’m here. I work out in the middle of the day.”
In fairness, a lot of people work out on their lunch break, which is in the middle of the day. Briggs isn’t buying comparisons though. “There’s a lot of people that can’t do what we do,” Briggs said. “There’s a lot people that couldn’t put their bodies through what we do, period.”
Had the Bears won against the Bills, none of this would be a big deal, but not only did the Bears lose, but Briggs admitted he had a few miscues against a Bills running game that found success in overtime, which led to the game-winning field goal.
Fortunately for the Bears and for Briggs, the team has 15 games to turn this season around and convince everyone that taking a day or two off doesn’t doom a season.
