Outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was hit in the face by a pitch from Brewers’ pitcher Mike Fiers. As passed along by writers covering the game, it was a frightening visual. The pitch was a fastball from Fiers that simply got away, shaking the pitcher up right away when he saw what happened.
Further details from writers at the game are presented below.

That pitch hit Stanton flush on the left side of the face. This is not good.

Here is the pitch itself.
What made this moment even more brutal is the fact that it was actually called a strike rather than a hit-by-pitch because Stanton had started to attempt a swing. That’s all secondary, however, to the well-being of Stanton. We echo the sentiment from the Marlins’ Twitter account.
#GetWellGiancarlo. We are thinking of you.
