Oh, that Phillie Phanatic. You never know what he will do next.

More from MLB

Since he made his debut in 1978, his antics have been crazy and original. You can argue that he had a huge role into the popularization of mascots in baseball.

Even though he has made appearances on The Tonight Show and David Letterman, the Phanatic is still grounded enough to entertain normal fans who go to Phillies games.

The Phanatic has donned cheerleading gear to cheer with the Penn State cheerleaders. He was even given CPR by Hunter Pence earlier this year. He routinely pours popcorn on the heads of fans of the opposing team. He particularly dislikes the Mets.

It wasn’t always that way. Back when the Pirates were in the National League East with the Phillies, him and the Pirate Parrot had several amusing run-ins.

This year it extended from the Parrot to the Pirate’s actual pirate mascot, Captain Jolly Roger. The Phanatic is apparently showing those in Philadelphia how to get rid of pirates if they invade your space.

This isn’t quite up to the feud of the Phanatic vs. Tommy Lasorda just yet, but who knows? If the Phanatic comes out with a stuffed doll in the shape of Captain Jolly Roger, it could escalate into that.
