Richard Sherman: I need the ball to help Seattle Seahawks
By Cory Buck
Richard Sherman was flattered that the Green Bay Packers avoided him in their Week 1 tilt against the Seattle Seahawks. That doesn’t mean he wants it to be a weekly thing. After seeing zero action against Aaron Rodgers, Sherman is hoping Phillip Rivers and the Chargers can give him something more to do in Week 2.

“I’m flattered,” Sherman said per the Seattle Times. “But I mean it doesn’t make as much sense to me as it does you guys. I’m a ballplayer. You don’t make impact of a game. You don’t get the ball you know it’s not as much impact, that’s how I feel. Everybody has their own opinions of it, but I need the ball.”
One can imagine Sherman actually withering and falling to the ground on his side of the field due to inactivity, and that’s the picture he paints when discussing his unique problem.
Asked if he or the team would consider moving him around to match Sherman with the opponent’s best guy, Sherman quickly answered, “No we don’t do that. Like I said before, that’s a form of disrespect to your other corner[…] You don’t disrespect your other guy by saying you can’t guard him so I go over there and guard him, that’s a slap in the face.”
The Seahawks are going to play the defense that won them a Super Bowl and if that means Sherman has to challenge a receiver to a thumb war just to keep his hands warm then so be it. If a quarterback throws his way, Sherm will be ready and that’s all that matters for the Seahawks.
