Steve Smith calls out Panthers during Ravens’ Week One game
By Mike Dyce
The Carolina Panthers made the tough decision to release wide receiver Steve Smith. It was surprising given the solid season he had in 2013
“They’re going to get the best, in-shape 35-year old guy that they can get,” Smith said back in March, via CBS Charlotte’s Willy J. “And if that happens to run through Bank of America Stadium, put your goggles on because there is going to be blood and guts everywhere.”
He signed a contract with the Baltimore Ravens and made an impressive 80-yard touchdown reception in their season opener against the Cincinnati Bengals. In total, Smith had seven receptions for 115 yards and the touchdown.
If there was any question over whether Smith had moved past the slight by the Panthers, he let you know what he had on his mind during the game. That’s right, Smith went on an anti-Panthers rant mid game and let the world know he was looking forward to that Week Four match up.
