Giancarlo Stanton thanks fans for support after being hit by pitch

In Thursday night’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers, Marlins power-hitter Giancarlo Stanton took an 88 MPH Mike Fiers fastball to the left side of the face in the fifth inning of the game.

Blood apparently was pouring from Stanton’s mouth after he fell to to the ground and then needed to be put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. While no word has been made on whether or not Stanton would return, Marlins manager Mike Redmond didn’t seem to optimistic.
Friday morning, Giancarlo Stanton took to Twitter to thank supporters.
