Adrian Peterson has been indicted on reckless or negligent injury to a child after he reportedly “whooped” his four-year-old son with a “switch” or a branch from a tree.

When the boy returned to his mother in Minnesota she took him to a doctor who reported the injuries to the authorities in Houston who redirected the case to Montgomery County where the incident took place.
The doctor told the authorities the boy had “lacerations on his thighs, along with bruise-like marks on his lower back and buttocks and cuts on his hand.”
According to the police report obtained by Sports Radio 610 in Houston, the doctor described some of the marks as open wounds and termed it “child abuse.” Another examiner agreed, calling the cuts “extensive.”
Photographs obtained from the Houston police report showed pictures of the injuries.

According to CBS Houston’s Nick Wright, some of the images were taken one week after the assault took place.
The Vikings released a statement saying, “The Vikings are in the process of gathering information regarding the legal situation involving Adrian Peterson. At this time, we will defer further questions to Adrian’s attorney Rusty Hardin.”
Peterson’s status for Sunday’s game is still being determined by the club.
