The NFL has suffered one of it’s darkest weeks ever for off-field misconduct as the week started with more disturbing footage of Ray Rice beating his wife and it had ended with word that Adrian Peterson stands accused of beating his child with a switch.

Peterson had a warrant for his arrest out on Friday afternoon when it became known that a doctor had turned the former NFL MVP in for allegedly beating his child. It wasn’t long after the warrant became public knowledge that Peterson turned himself in to Houston officials and was booked on the child abuse charges.
As part of the booking process, Peterson’s mugshot was taken and there are more than a few people taking issue with the running back smiling in the photo.

The fallout from the entire incident has been swift so far as the Vikings have deactivated Peterson for this Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots and the NFL is expected to hand down punishment on Monday.
It’s not clear what Peterson’s punishment might be but a suspension is more than likely given the week the league has had and the severity of it’s punishment against Ray Rice for similarly beating another defenseless human being.
