The NFL has had one of it’s darkest weeks in league history as two of the most well known players in the game have been the center of attention for beating defenseless human beings in various ways.

More from Minnesota Vikings

Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice was arrested months ago for beating his now-wife Janay in an Atlantic city casino elevator but just this week saw new footage of the savage attack released. Just days later, Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson had a warrant issued for his arrest after a doctor turned in photos of markings on the former MVP’s son which indicated child abuse.

According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, Peterson turned himself in on early Saturday morning and is expected to be released on $15,000 bond.

This is another gash to the image of the NFL as Peterson was generally perceived to be one of the ‘good guys’ in the NFL as he never spoke out against his team, never became the subject of negative press and was a fan favorite across the league.

But this case changes all of that and it doesn’t help that the NFL has just endured a week in which very disturbing and violent abuse cases have shattered credibility and likability across the board.
