Panthers QB Cam Newton will ‘no doubt’ play Sunday, says Ron Rivera
By Jack Crosby
The Carolina Panthers walked away with a win in Week 1 last week over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and they were able to do so without the services of quarterback Cam Newton. While they were able to squeak away with that one, they want to have Newton back on the field as soon as possible, and they will.
According to head coach Ron Rivera, Newton will definitely be on the field this Sunday when the Panthers take on the Detroit Lions at home to try and push their record to 2-0 on the season.
Newton had been battling a rib injury leading up to Week 1, which led to him missing the start and the team having to place backup Derek Anderson in his place, who played well enough to get the job done.

The Pro Bowl QB also had offseason ankle surgery, although that hasn’t seemed to be much of an issue thus far, rather it’s been the ribs that have been giving him the problem.
But, apparently, everything with Newton is good to go as they get set to see if they can get their second win of the early NFL season.
