This is the Orioles’ Tommy Hunter fielding a bunt and attempting to scoop it to first with his glove behind the back to get the runner.

This is a good demonstration of why it’s advisable to take the ball out of your glove with your hand and throw it WITH YOUR HAND. It also demonstrates why trying to do things behind-the-back is stupid.

I know he’s desperate to try and get the runner but that’s why thinking was invented.

Thought process on this one (or what it should be): “Maybe I can get him if I scoop it behind my back with my…nah.”

More from Baltimore Orioles

Tommy Hunter, in that split-second where he could have done the smart thing and just conceded, went against the grain of all common sense and elected to attempt a play that can’t be done.

And he just wound up looking like an idiot. Because that’s what happens when you try plays that are not possible under the current laws of physics.

Pretty sure Tommy Hunter won’t be trying that move again. Here’s hoping at least.
