Some many people will be saying it. Even more people will be thinking it. Now a women’s advocacy group is stepping up and expressing the sentiment held by so many people about NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in the form of banners that will fly over four stadiums on Sunday.

According to Bloomberg, the women’s advocacy group Ultraviolet has arranged to have planes flying over four stadiums on Sunday with a banner that reads ‘@UltraViolet: #GoodellMustGo.’
Considering all of the calls for Goodell’s resignation or firing already in the wake of his mishandling of the domestic abuse situation involving Ray Rice, one imagines that the hashtag #GoodellMustGo has a good chance of picking up some steam on social media rather quickly this weekend.
Erik Matuszewski of Bloomberg writes the following about the banners:
"The planes are scheduled to fly for two hours above each facility prior to the no-fly security restrictions that begin one hour before game time. One plane will fly over MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, before the New York Giants’ game against the Arizona Cardinals. Banners will also be displayed above stadiums in Cleveland and San Francisco, along with one ahead of the Monday night NFL game in Indianapolis."
With this gesture, Ultraviolet is making an appropriately bold statement about what should happen with Roger Goodell while also hoping to invoke the power of social media. They are absolutely right about the fact that ‘Goodell must go,’ of course, so here’s hoping that their efforts generate some momentum.
