The San Diego Chargers are feeling good about their situation, or at least better about their prospects this season, after they bounced back for a big win over the Seattle Seahawks at home on Sunday afternoon. In many senses it was a much-needed win after they blew a lead to lose to the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night in week 1.

There was a bit of a damper on the good vibes in San Diego after their victory, however. That came as a result of the fact that running back Ryan Mathews had to be carted off the field with a knee injury during the game.

According to Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego, that injury is an MCL sprain:

The team will conduct further evaluations before they determine anything, but it sounds like the Chargers will have to ponder game plans over the next few weeks that do not include Mathews. In his absence, Danny Woodhead and Donald Brown will be asked to step up at the running back position in San Diego.

Mathews has 40 yards rushing and one touchdown so far this season. He is coming off a stellar 2013 season in which he rushed for 1,255 yards and six touchdowns.
