It is not looking good for the Chicago Bears’ two biggest offensive weapons, and by extension then it is not looking good for Bears QB Jay Cutler.

Per Adam Schefter, there is currently a 75% chance that neither Alshon Jeffery nor Brandon Marshall will play Sunday night vs. San Francisco. By my math, that means there’s only a 25% chance that both will play.
The Bears beefed up their receiver corps in anticipation of Marshall and Jeffery both being out, signing Josh Bellamy and Chris Williams from the practice squad.
I don’t need to point out that Bellamy and Williams are not Jeffery and Marshall.
Jeffery, who has been battling a hamstring, and Marshall, who has been dealing with an ankle, were both listed as questionable on the Bears’ Friday injury report.
If Marshall and Jeffery are unable to go, you can probably put the Bears’ chances of beating the 49ers at somewhere around 0%. Unless Jay Cutler has some magic up his sleeve. Or unless the Bears can conjure up a defensive performance much more dominating than recent trends would indicate is likely.
I’ll leave it to others to deal with the implications of this news from a fantasy football standpoint. I guess if you have both Marshall and Jeffery on your FF team you are kind of screwed right now.
Some would argue that if you’re playing FF at all you are already screwed in a deeper spiritual sense but we’ll leave that discussion for another time.
Marshall and Jeffery both being out certainly reduces the potential entertainment value for Sunday night’s game, unless the sight of Jay Cutler becoming intensely frustrated entertains you more than the sight of good offensive football.
