As you set up your week 2 lineup, here’s the latest news from around the NFL on players dealing with injury.  These players availability will have an effect both on their outlook and on the opportunities for other players who could step up in their absence.

Make sure to follow @FansidedFantasy on twitter for pre-game news as inactives are declared before kickoff, but as of this morning–here’s the status of these fantasy relevant players:

Reggie Bush-RB-Detroit Lions

Knowshon Moreno-RB-Miami Dolphins

Players Status Unknown

Brandon Marshall-WR-Chicago Bears: Marshall has been sidelined all week with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday night’s game.  My best guess is that Marshall will give it a go, but starting him through all your daytime backup options locking will be a high-risk play.

Alshon Jeffery-WR-Chicago Bears: Like Marshall, Jeffery is questionable for Sunday’s game. He did practice Friday, but his status is definitely uncertain for Sunday.  The only Bears receiver who is sure to play is Santonio Holmes, and all of the Bears fantasy players not named Matt Forte are very risky plays.

Carson Palmer-QB-Arizona Cardinals: Palmer is questionable with a nerve issue in his shoulder. He is expected to play but hasn’t had many reps in practice this week. Drew Stanton is the backup for Palmer, and it would be a significant hit to the Cardinals fantasy values if Palmer has to sit.   It looks like he’ll try to give it a go, though.

Doug Martin-RB-Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Martin will likely play but is officially questionable with a knee injury that caused him to miss much of week1.  He’s a mid-RB2 with upside if he plays, while Bobby Rainey will step in if he isn’t able to go.

Jordan Cameron-TE-Cleveland Browns: Cameron is questionable with a shoulder injury and will likely be a gametime decision.  His availability would help QB Brian Hoyer as Cleveland take on the Saints.

Shaun Hill-QB-St. Louis Rams: Hill will be a gametime decision for Sunday’s game in Tampa, but hopefully his availability doesn’t affect your fantasy team.

Players Sitting Out

Adrian Peterson-RB-Minnesota Vikings: Due to his current legal situation, Peterson will not be playing on Sunday.  He is accused of reckless or negligent injury to a child and will most likely be out for an extended period of time as the Vikings and NFL further discipline the star RB. Matt Asiata will start for Minnesota on Sunday.

Josh Gordon-WR-Cleveland Browns: Gordon has been informed his suspension will be reduced from 16 to 10 games, but Coach Mike Pettine sounded unsure if Gordon would join the team even at that time.  Once the policy is officially finalized, Gordon can be dropped in all leagues. The “high-risk” part of picking Gordon looks like it will come back to bit owners that rolled the dice.

Wes Welker-WR-Denver Broncos: Welker won’t be back for week 2 since the new NFL Drug Policy still isn’t finalized, but he should return in time for week 3.

Maurice Jones-Drew-RB-Oakland Raiders: MJD had hand surgry this week and is expected to miss week two.  It doesn’t look like a long-term injury, but lok for Darren McFadden and Latavius Murray to split the workload this week against Houston.

Josh Morgan-WR-Chicago Bears: Morgan is doubtful, so don’t think about him as an option if either Brandon Marshall, Alshon Jeffery, or both aren’t able to go on Sunday night.

DeAngelo Williams-RB-Carolina Panthers: Williams is questionable but looks unlikely to start after a thigh injury he sustained in practice this week. Jonathan Stewart will get the start with Mike Tolbert also mixed in for Sunday’s game against Detroit.

Ben Tate-RB-Cleveland Browns: Tate is out for 2-4 weeks with a knee injury and rookies Terrance West and Isaiah Crowell will take over while he’s sidelined.

Cecil Shorts-WR-Jacksonville Jagaurs: Shorts is doubtful with a hamstring injury but is traveling to the Jags game on Sunday in Washington. If he can’t play, rookies Allen Hurns and Marqise Lee will get more looks in the passing game.
