With the Minnesota Vikings deactivating star running back Adrian Peterson following arrest for child abuse, Brian Hubbuch of the New York Post reports the team will soon decide what’s next for Peterson, at least in regards to the 2014 NFL season and upcoming games.

"Vikings management holding conference call tonight to decide Peterson’s immediate status. Further deactivations possible. (3/4)— Bart Hubbuch (@HubbuchNYP) September 14, 2014"

One ruling that won’t be made is cutting the running back, but Hubbuch says ownership has yet to rule out a trade if the scenario arises.

Whatever the Vikings do with Peterson will most likely depend on how bad the charges are in his case IF Peterson winds up guilty. If the charges are bad, it’s unlikely anyone trades for Peterson, especially with the league under fire for mismanagement when players find themselves in legal trouble.

It’s going to be interesting to see what the Vikings choose to do. More specifically, it’s going to be interesting seeing what they do before reaching the release/trade step. Do they allow Peterson to play in Week 3? Keep him deactivated? Suspend him for ‘x’ amount of game? Indefinite suspension?

Each above option is on the board.
