This may come as good news to Cardinals fans or it may come as bad news, but Ian Rapoport says Carson Palmer is expected to play Sunday for Arizona against the New York Giants.

More from Arizona Cardinals

Palmer was limited in practice all week with a bad shoulder and was listed as questionable on the Friday injury report.

Rapoport says Palmer will play “assuming he feels good pre-game.” If Palmer can’t go, Drew Stanton would be the man to take the field against the Giants. Stanton has not played in a regular season game since 2010.

The way the Giants have looked offensively, the Cardinals could probably win this game with Giancarlo Stanton playing quarterback, busted face and all.

Whoever ends up playing QB for the Cardinals should look to get the ball to Larry Fitzgerald more often, or else Larry’s father will have another fit.

Palmer may not be the greatest quarterback in the world, but Cardinals fans should nonetheless try to appreciate him more. It could be a lot worse Cardinals fans. It could be Matt Schaub or Ryan Fitzpatrick out there. Or Chad Henne. Or Eli Manning.

Like it or not, Palmer appears he will be able to suit up for this game. The same can’t be said for DE John Abraham who is out after suffering a concussion and may be forced to retire.

Again, with the Giants offense looking terrible, the Cardinals should be in good shape. Their defense should have few issues with New York and their offense should not feel a ton of pressure.

Things will be a little harder when the Cards get into the divisional portion of their schedule.
