After having one of the greatest rookie seasons by a starting quarterback, Robert Griffin III is now the butt of many jokes (this, this and this). People are proclaiming that he will never be good again because of his injuries and that his time with the Washington Redskins needs to end.

Only two games into the year, and his future is already looking grim.

I am one of the people who agree with the assessment that Griffin’s time in Washington should end.

However my reasoning has nothing to do with his talent or his injuries. I believe the fans of the Washington franchise does not appreciate a great quarterback and are not loyal to a man who gives his body week after week to win games for this franchise.

The Arizona Cardinals are one of the teams that should make a trade or attempt to land Griffin. I understand that the Cardinals are 2-0 thanks to Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton, but their ceiling is not higher than Griffin’s.  Here are some of the reasons why the Cardinals need to land the stud quarterback.

Birds Flying High

With the talent that the Arizona Cardinals have on offense, it is going to cause nightmares for opponents to scheme against them.

Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald is on his way to entering into the Hall of Fame when he retires, and Michael Floyd has Pro Bowl potential.

The last time the Cardinals had a two wide receivers and a quarterback that were on the same page, they played in the Super Bowl.

With a quarterback like Griffin who excels with keeping turnovers down and throws a lot of accurate passes, having two wide receivers that are extremely good at getting separation and getting to the middle of the field will help.

Instead of looking for a deep home run threat on most possessions, Griffin can execute as a surgeon would and take his time knifing his way through the defense.

In case the defense starts to cue in on Floyd and Fitzgerald, Griffin can still throw over the top of a defense with the speedster Ted Ginn Jr, running go patterns.

Before his latest injury Griffin was back to his normal self. In the opening week of the NFL season against the Houston Texans he went 29-of-37 for 267 yards and completed 78 percent of his passes.

For his career, Griffin has a 63 percent completion percentage.

Furthermore, the Cardinals can do more for Griffin than his current team could. According to Pro Football Focus they already have a better offensive line, and that also helps Griffin to not run out of the pocket and attempt to make plays with his legs.

In addition, the Cardinals also boast a running back in Andre Ellington who has the potential to become a 1,000-yard rusher.

There are way too many weapons in this offense, and the Cardinals handing Griffin the keys to their offense would create wonders.

Speaking of wonderful, the Cardinals are not too shabby on the other side of the football.

Defense Sicker than Bird Flu

The Cardinals have one of the best defenses in the NFL. Though its early in the season, they have only allowed opponents to score 15.5 points a game.

This includes a win against the San Diego Chargers who lit up the Seattle Seahawks for 30 points in week two.

The Cardinals have a top flight secondary that features one of the two best cornerbacks in the NFL, Patrick Peterson. On the opposite side of Peterson, another super athletic cornerback in Antonio Cromartie is more than capable of shutting down wide receivers.

Furthermore, the Cardinals also have one of the best safeties in the game with Tyrann Mathieu. The young safety is one of the most aggressive defensive players in the league and knows how to make plays that change the outcome of the game. Often we see him make plays that swing the momentum in the favor of the Cardinals and propel them to victories.

Also, the Cardinals have a strong front seven. They often get to the quarterback and more importantly, they know how to stop the run. With Calais Campbell as the premier player in the front seven, the Cardinals are second in opponents rushing yards.

The Cardinals defense is a significant upgrade from the Swiss cheese defense that Griffin had to endure when he played in Washington.

Next season if the Cardinals get Griffin, they’ll have a quarterback who has the potential to take them to a Super Bowl. If Griffin does happen to get hurt, then they still will have Carson Palmer who can also be called upon to help relieve Griffin and win games.

The time in Washington needs to end.

The constant disrespect and immoral fans who choose to get elated because of an injury are even more reasons why Griffin should leave and watch that franchise get back to being as bad as they were before he got there.
