The Carolina Panthers allowed Greg Hardy to practice all week, report to the team facilities and even show up on gameday but he didn’t play a single down in the win over the Detroit Lions.

More from Carolina Panthers

Hardy was deactivated before the game following pressure on the team to do something about the domestic violence charge against Hardy stemming from way back in the spring.

According to Mike Florio from PFT.com, Greg Hardy can report to the Panthers practices all he wants but don’t expect him to be playing on Sundays for a very long time.

"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the current expectation is that Hardy’s surprise deactivation from Sunday wasn’t a blip on the radar screen.According to the source, Hardy likely won’t be playing for a while."

Hardy stands accused of serious crimes as he threatened the life of his girlfriend in a domestic abuse situation, and the details get worse the more you read. He was the first of the big name players this year to get busted for domestic violence of some sort as Ray Rice, Ray McDonald and Adrian Peterson all did not play on Sunday along with Hardy.

It’s an issue the NFL is desperately trying to fix but it’s one that should have been fixed long before deactivation on Sunday brought real attention to fans.
