NFL reaches out to DA in regards to Adrian Peterson
If the NFL didn’t have the reach it needed to in regards to the Ray Rice situation that took place last week, it definitely took steps to ensure the reach was further when it comes to Adrian Peterson. Following information that was released last week, the Vikings deactivated Peterson on Sunday. However, the NFL has stepped in quickly.

TMZ is now reporting that the NFL has reached out to the Montgomery Country DA’s office, however, the Minnesota Vikings have not. Although TMZ has essentially become the spokesperson for the NFL of late, a quote from the article is of utmost importance in both situations.
When the NFL reached out to the DA’s office, only what was already made public was turned over. TMZ is reporting that this is because, “the NFL is not entitled to the case file since it is not a law enforcement agency.”
Although players in any professional sporting organization should be held to a higher standard, it is easy to forget that the organization is not above the law either. While the Minnesota Vikings and the NFL have a standard they want to hold their players to, they must also fall in line in accordance to the law.
Adrian Peterson has been defined as a child abuser by many because of practices that he employed upon his four-year old son. Although without context they seem extreme, the most important party, the Mongtomery County court system, has yet to define him as such.
Both the Vikings and the NFL can take steps against Peterson with what they know in the situation. However, as witnessed by the statement made by the Wilf’s on behalf of the Vikings this morning, it would be best not to.
Adrian Peterson testified much earlier in regards to the situation, and no decision was reached. Allowing the justice system to do its job, rather than be ruled by the court of public opinion or internet experts, the Vikings have reinstated Adrian Peterson to play this weekend against the New Orleans Saints.
