The Minnesota Vikings will be discussing punishment for All-Pro running back Adrian Peterson on Monday but there is one penalty he won’t be getting in wake of his arrest for allegedly beating his child.

Ray Rice beat his wife in the most savage of ways this past winter and as a result he was cut by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended indefinitely by the NFL. There are many who believe that  could be a punishment for Peterson, but that’s a bit hasty at the moment.

According to Bart Hubbuch from the New York Post, the Vikings won’t be outright releasing Peterson over this issue like the Ravens did with Ray Rice, but they may end up trading him.

"An NFL source familiar with the thinking of the Vikings’ ownership group said Sunday the only certainty is Peterson won’t be released because of his shocking indictment Friday afternoon. But everything else — including the long-shot possibility of a trade — is still on the table"

The idea of trading Adrian Peterson isn’t a new notion, as the team has been rumored to be thinking about moving their high priced running back for a while now. But this recent turn of events changes  things in a very non-football way as the Vikings parting ways with Peterson now has less to do with saving cap space and more to do with team morality.
