After what can only be described as a terrible week of football news from off the field, it was refreshing to be able to focus on the play on the field.

So let’s take a look at what surprised us and shocked us in Week 2.

Here is a bonus to start us off: the lack of a Bob Costas moralizing speech regarding Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, Greg Hardy or Ray McDonald. After a week of chaos around all those situations, and with McDonald playing Sunday night, we expected Mr. Costas to do his usual thing and explain to us the ills of the universe.

It didn’t happen and what is ironic about that is, this is probably the one time Twitter wouldn’t have collectively eye-rolled at him. But kudos for Costas and NBC for realizing the burnout we had experienced already all week and giving us a break to focus on football.

Let’s focus on some more.
