Rachel Nichols, a sideline reporter for multiple outlets, has the statement in full to share:
Through reading the statement in its entirety, there are a few principles at play here. The Minnesota Vikings first and foremost understand their place as an NFL football team.
Adrian Peterson testified in front of a grand jury weeks ago, and the investigation has been ongoing. All of the information that was just provided to the public, and more importantly the media, last week, was in the hands of the legal system much earlier.
With that being said, the Vikings are not to be condemned for looking at this situation as due process. Adrian Peterson’s transgressions, if they are deemed as such, were a matter of his personal life, not the Minnesota Vikings or the NFL. While it is in the best interest of both the team and league for players to not cast a bad light, it is also on the legal system to handle such matters.
Peterson still could be disciplined by the NFL under either the personal conduct policy or new domestic abuse policy, however, it is likely in the NFL’s best interest to let due process play out as well.
This situation is far from over, and likely won’t see resolution until the courts are done with their due diligence. Stay tuned to FanSided for the most up to date information regarding Adrian Peterson and the Vikings.
