One of the hottest names in the World Cup wasn’t a member of Team USA or a Spanish or French player.

Instead, one of the hottest names at the World Cup this year was 26-year old Australian swingman Joe Ingles. Not only was he the talk of the tournament but his solid play has finally landed him a job in the NBA that looked to be coming his way was far back as a few years ago.

There have been plenty of foreign signings in the NBA but this is a unqiue case in which interest blossomed thanks to the World Cup. That too has happened before, but it’s an unconventional way for a prospect to draw attention.

Ingles was garnering interest last summer and as far back as 2012 following his performance in the Olympics but nothing has happened with his NBA career until now. If you haven’t checked out his game now — or if you’re a Clippers fan wanting to see what you’re getting into — check out Ingles’ highlights below:

The Clippers were looking for all the depth they could find and padding the frontcourt depth with Ingles is a smart move. While they have depth on the roster, having recently signed Ekpe Udoh and Heo Turkoglu, Ingles will not only make things flow better but will makes the Clippers even more interesting to watch this season.
