The mother of Adrian Peterson’s son that is the victim in the alleged abuse charged against Peterson, is calling on the media to remove the photos of her son’s injuries that he allegedly received from Peterson beating him with a switch. The photos were released late last week.

Kelly C. Dohm of the Minnesota-based firm Melchert Hubert Sjodin said her unnamed client “wishes to express her extreme outrage at the invasion of their privacy that has occurred through the publication of highly confidential and private data obtained regarding them by the press without their permission or consent.”

Peterson, 29, was indicted Thursday on a charge he injured his 4-year-old son by spanking him with a tree branch and has an arraignment scheduled for Oct. 8.

Peterson’s potential punishments could include up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found guilty. His team, the Minnesota Vikings, deactivated Peterson for last Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots, but the Vikings announced Monday he’ll resume playing this week while the legal process plays out.

According to USA TODAY, Phil Bates, first assistant district attorney in Montgomery County, Texas, told reporters at a Saturday news conference that photos and details of the boy’s injuries came from an unlawful leak and his office was working with other law-enforcement agencies to find the source.

“My client is hurt and outraged that the press would publish throughout the world pictures of their minor son and publish statements allegedly made as part of the private and confidential criminal investigative file,” Dohm said in her statement.

The Peterson indictment comes as another black eye for the NFL following the Ray Rice mishandling that have now led to an appeal by the NFLPA, to bring to light how badly the NFL messed up. The NFL will have to tread very lightly, and correctly as Peterson’s fate plays out in court.
