My favorite part of any professional sports season, NFL, NBA, MLB, you name it, is the initial reaction to the first few weeks of the season from the fans, media, and even athletes and coaches involved. After the entire offseason full of speculation and predictions, it all comes together right before our eyes, and most of the time we’re all dead wrong, like Notorious B.I.G.

Of course everyone loves to be correct in their predictions. Everyone loves to be right in general. Just go on twitter, and you’ll find a community of millions of people who have never been wrong in their entire lives, or that’s at least what they’d like you to believe.

Whether you’re right or you’re wrong in sports, there’s no better feeling in sports than being surprised.

Through the first two weeks of the NFL season, we’ve seen it all: epic comebacks/collapses, sensational catches, inexplicable interceptions. It’s all been on display, and a lot of it has been surprising based on my initial feelings headed into the season.

Everyone knew Dallas’s defense was going to suck, so it was no surprise when the 49ers stomped them in the opener, but did anyone foresee that same defense bring the hammer down on Jake Locker and the Titans? Did anyone think Kansas City, after laying an egg against the Titans and without Jamaal Charles, was going to give the Broncos a game in Denver?

Because the NFL is chalked full of surprises every single week, I’ve put together a ranking of the biggest surprises of the first two weeks of the season.
