Tampa Bay Rays’ gifts for Derek Jeter
It’s Derek Jeter’s final series in Tampa Bay this week and Rays fans who have watched their team struggle against Jeter for 20 years, honored Jeter. The Rays, like most MLB teams that hosted Jeter this year, have gotten him a farewell gift. They gave Jeter $16,000 to his charity foundation, the Turn 2 Foundation as well as a pinstripe kayak and a Don Zimmer Jersey that was presented by his widow.

The Yankees showed their appreciation of the Rays’ generosity via Twitter:
Jeter has just 13 more regular season games this year. He’ll fittingly end his career in Boston, his bitter rival for 20 years. Red Sox fans have expressed appreciation for Jeter throughout this season as has every team. Jeter’s farewell tour takes him back to New York for games against the Blue Jays and Orioles before concluding in Boston.
Through Jeter’s career, he has a .309 career batting average, 3,450 hits and has scored 1,917 times on 11,151 at-bats. The future Hall-of-Famer also won rookie-of-the-year honors in 1996, 15 All-Star appearances and has won five World Series titles with the Yankees.
