Adrian Peterson’s mom defends son over child abuse charges
By Sam Richmond
Adrian Peterson might just be the most hated man in sports these days. The Minnesota Vikings running back has been charged for child abuse after disciplining his son with a switch, which has led to Peterson being pulled off the field by Minnesota for the foreseeable future.

However, there’s still someone out there that is on Peterson’s side, his mother.
Bonita Jackson told the Houston Chronicle that Peterson is “trying hard to be a good parent.”
"“My son is not a perfect man by no means, but in the end I’m proud to be his mom,” she said. “For the most part he is trying hard to be a good parent, he’s working at it. People are judging him, but they don’t know his heart. This was never his intent.”"
Jackson also said that the type of discipline Peterson gave his son comes from “love.”
"“I don’t care what anybody says. Most of us disciplined our kids a little more than we meant sometimes,” Jackson, 50, said in an interview from her home in Spring, a Houston suburb. “But we were only trying to prepare them for the real world.”“When you whip those you love, it’s not about abuse, but love,” Jackson added, accompanied by her current husband, a Baptist minister. “You want to make them understand that they did wrong.”"
Peterson was placed on the Exempt/Commissioner’s List Wednesday, which means he must stay away from the Vikings until his legal matters are resolved.
The Vikings selected Peterson with the No. 7 pick of the 2007 NFL Draft.
