Arizona Cardinals deactivate Jonathan Dwyer; release statement
By Josh Sanchez
On Wednesday afternoon, Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer became the latest NFL player to put the league in the headlines for all of the wrong reasons when he was arrested on domestic violence charges including a count of aggravated assault involving a minor.

According to the Phoenix Police Department, there were two victims — a 27-year-old female and an 18-month old child.
Wasting no time — unlike some of the other teams in the league — the Cardinals have made the decision to deactivate Dwyer from all team activities.
The announcement was made in a statement from the team.
“We became aware of these allegations this afternoon when notified by Phoenix police and are cooperating fully. Given the serious nature of the allegations we have taken the immediate step to deactivate Jonathan from all team activities. We will continue to closely monitor this as it develops and evaluate additional information as it becomes available.”
It is refreshing to see a team act swiftly, though it would be even better if players would not continue to put themselves in these situations.
