Brooklyn Nets sign Hamady Ndiaye to compete for 3rd center spot

The Brooklyn Nets announced Wednesday they have signed center Hamady Ndiaye.
Ndiaye, who played for Senegal in the FIBA World Cup, also played 14 games for the Sacramento Kings last season. He is being brought in to compete for the third center spot, along with recently signed Jerome Jordan.

At the World Cup, Ndiaye averaged 5.7 points, four rebounds and 1.8 blocks in 16.8 minutes per game for the Senegalese, who reached the round of 16 for the first time. Ndiaye shot .652/—/.400 for the tournament.
Ndiaye, a second-round pick of the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2010 out of Rutgers, played just 74 minutes in 14 games for the Kings, scoring six points with 18 rebounds and four blocks.
He also played 15 games for Delaware and two for Reno in the D-League, averaging 3.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks in 17.6 minutes per game and shooting .473/—/.481.
Ndiaye’s rights were traded on draft night in 2010 to the Washington Wizards along with the rights to forward Trevor Booker in exchange for draft rights to forwards Lazar Hayward and Nemanja Bjelica.
He played 19 games for the Wizards in 2010-11 and 2011-12 and played 34 games in the D-League those two seasons before spending all of 2012-13 in the Chinese Basketball Association.
The Nets already have centers Brook Lopez and Mason Plumlee at the top of the depth chart.
