J.J. Watt, the NFL’s best defensive lineman, expanded is palette in last Sunday’s 30-14 victory over the Oakland Raiders when he lined up at tight end and then caught a touchdown pass in the end zone for a touchdown.

Coach Bill O’Brien wants to line up Watt at the tight end position more according to NJ.com reporter Jordan Raanan who said that we should expect to see Watt at tight end more.

Texans linebackers coach Mike Vrabel may have something to do with the fact that Watt is taking snaps at tight end. Vrabel caught 10 regular season passes for 10 touchdowns while he was a linebacker for the Patriots and Chiefs. Vrabel added two more in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX.

Watt is the real deal on defense, and is both a good decoy and weapon on offensive with his large frame at 6’5”, 289 pounds. Whether the Texans plan to use Watt at tight end or not, they’re doing the smart thing, scaring the league with the threats.

The Texans are 2-0 after beating two struggling teams, the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders. Their test will get a little harder Sunday when they take on the 0-2 New York Giants, but if they play how they did in weeks one and two and J.J. Watt can score a touchdown, they could just walk in and out of New York with ease.
