The Minnesota Vikings have watched how chastised the Baltimore Ravens have become thanks to their bungling of the Ray Rice situation and they’re trying their hardest to avoid that with Adrian Peterson.

Indicted on child abuse charges last week, Peterson wasn’t allowed to play for the Vikings in their 30-7 loss to the New England Patriots but was cleared to play next week. the instantaneous backlash from fans across the NFL have led the Vikings to once again change their minds about playing Peterson.
According to Jason la Canora from CBS Sports, the Vikings and their MVP running back have reached an agreement that he won’t represent the team nor appeal for playing time if the team continues to pay him his full 2014 season salary.
Vikings and Peterson reach an arrangement here, essentially- we'll pay you to stay home if you don't appeal or fight roster status for while

If MV try to suspend Peterson w/o pay now, things could get even uglier. So they're buying time, literally, and buying his acquiescence

It’s not a pretty situation but that’s not what anyone was looking for in this. There are many who believe Peterson should be suspended without pay, but that’s not lawful at this point. Peterson has merely been indicted on child abuse charges, not convicted of any yet which means he is within his rights to demand playing time.
To avoid that fiasco, the Vikings are instead paying Peterson to go away for a while, as the situation will play itself out to a conclusion one way or another in the near future. That’s when a final decision on Peterson’s future will likely be made.
