NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to recuse himself from Ray Rice appeal
By Jack Crosby
The Ray Rice situation has taken another turn this week as the former Baltimore Ravens running back has officially filed an appeal with the league regarding his indefinite suspension stemming from his domestic violence incident. So eventually, the league will hear the case and decide whether or not they want to lessen the punishment against Rice.

Well when they do sit down and hear the appeal, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the man that has taken the most heat throughout this entire situation, will not be there.
According to Pro Football Talk, the league has sent out a note stating that Goodell will not be hearing the case and that he never intended to in the first place.
Aside from Rice being banned when video footage surfaced of him striking his fiancee in a hotel elevator, this is the most obvious news throughout this entire situation. In no way, shape or form should Goodell be anywhere near anything that has to do with Rice at the moment, given how poorly this situation has been handled by him already.
There’s no word yet on when exactly the case will be heard, but we now know for sure that Goodell will not have his hand in any sort of decision that comes down this time.
This past summer after the case came to light, Goodell met with Rice and his wife, Janay, and when all was said and done, all that Goodell handed down to Rice was a two-game suspension, which we found out after watching the horrific video was nowhere near a harsh enough punishment.
