Fall approaches, friends. For many, it’s a time of plenty, with Thanksgiving two months away and the bacchanalian familial feasts of the holidays just beyond the horizon. For far too many still, however, fall — like all the other seasons — can be a time of wanting. Too many struggle to make ends meet year-round.

Yesterday, newly acquired Boston Celtics big man Tyler Zeller, Celtics legend Dana Barros, Lucky the Celtic mascot and members of the Boston Celtics CommUNITY Crew made their way to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank to lend a helping hand. The food bank brings in whatever foodstuffs it can reasonably hold and distribute to those in need in the greater Boston area, and part of that process is manually sorting the various products into groupings that can then be used to put together complete packages of goods for the recipients. Zeller, Barros and company pitched in with the task at hand, sorting and organizing said packages and preparing them for their delivery.

“I am excited to assist the Celtics CommUNITY Crew in giving back to the Merrimack Valley Food Bank through this event and truly appreciate those that have volunteered, including Celtics staff, team partners and season ticket members,” said Boston Celtics Center Tyler Zeller.

“With so many people in need, it’s nice to know that there are organizations that directly touch our neighborhoods and provide support,” said TD Bank Representative Jerry Copsinis. “We value our partnership with the Boston Celtics CommUNITY and we are always happy to join them in serving the community.”

Food banks and charitable services can always use your help, dear reader; if you have nothing to give materially, your time and dedication are equally valued by those who seek to help the less fortunate. You can locate food banks in your area by visiting Feeding America.
