Wes Welker, Orlando Scandrick become eligible with new NFL drug policy agreement
Don’t look past the Adrian Peterson or Ray Rice stories, there’s nothing else going on in the NFL. Well, except a brand new drug policy agreement between the NFL and NFLPA.

The new policy changes a lot of things, and for three players their old four-game suspensions have turned in to being immediately available to their teams.
In releasing a statement about the new drug policy agreement, the NFL and NFLPA announced that Denver Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker, Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick and St. Louis Rams wide receiver Stedman Bailey have all had their suspensions reduced to the levels under the new agreement.
All three will be eligible to play for their teams this weekend, although it remains to be seen if any will be ready to go by this weekend.
Welker’s return could have the biggest impact, as he finished last season third on the team with 73 receptions for 778 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Getting him back on the field only helps to further open up the Broncos passing game, which has seen Emmanuel Sanders emerge in Welker’s absence (14 receptions, 185 yards).
Scandrick and Bailey are likely to work in to the rotations quickly on their respective teams, especially given early season returns from their respective teams.
There’s little doubt that Scandrick’s presence will help the Cowboys pass defense and Bailey will add some big time speed to the wide receiver group in St. Louis.
