Who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Or what about those who believe the internet and technology is just a little bit over the head of certain generations.  Well, fear not there is hope for you. Barry Bonds just recently joined twitter, and much like his biceps, his follower tally swelled from 0 to over 19k in a matter of days.

Today, he gets in on the “Throwback Thursday” craze.

Most baseball fans have seen Bonds depicted or play in his Pittsburgh Pirates uniform, and more recently, his San Francisco Giants uniform.

However, I would fuss many can’t lay claim to watching bonds play in his first ever baseball uniform.

Bonds tweeted out the above picture today and hash tagged “Love you mom and dad.” While that sentiment is likely often handed out to parents around the globe, it may be especially important to hear this week.

Amidst a National Football League crisis that has seen children, wives, and girlfriends subjects of violence, it is often good to be reminded to love those who likely taught us what love is.

Bonds presented the picture of himself in his childhood uniform without and statistical reference, however, if I was a betting man (and I am), I would be willing to guess he was launching long balls way back in yesteryear. Forget what you think about Barry Bonds the human being, Bonds the baseball player, steroids or not, was one of the best to ever pick up a bat.
