Detroit Pistons’ big man Greg Monroe seemingly would not even entertain signing an extension with the Pistons and reportedly wants out. That’s why he signed his qualifying offer and will become an unrestricted free agent in 2015.

Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders believes Monroe won’t be going anywhere this season but acknowledges how bad he wants out.

"By signing the qualifying offer, Greg Monroe can veto any trade. So it’s really not the Pistons’ call alone. He may agree to the deal, in which case it would go through, but that’s no guarantee. It does seem like he wants out though, especially with reports coming out that indicate he would’ve turned down a max offer from Detroit because he wants to play elsewhere."

As an unrestricted free agent, Monroe will draw a lot more interest next year provided he has another solid season.

Monroe put up 15.2 points, 9.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the field and 65.7% from the free throw line last season. Monroe, who was the seventh-overall pick in the first round of the 2010 draft, has averaged 14.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.8% from the floor and 67.8% from the foul line.
