Jim Boeheim blasts Yahoo article that took shots at Coach K
By Jack Crosby
Yahoo basketball guru Adrian Wojnarowski is one of the more respected basketball insiders in the business. Actually, you could make the case that he is definitively the most respected one out there. But over the past few days, he’s not been talked about for a big story that he broke, rather he’s been discussed because of a piece that he wrote recently, which took a few shots at Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski and what he perceives to be his real intentions as the head coach of the USA Basketball program.

Well, needless to say, the piece got a lot of people talking, both folks in agreement, as well as folks that vehemently defended the legendary Blue Devils coach.
Now, whose side do you think Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim was on? Okay, this is a no-brainer.
Jim Boeheim sat down with the media on Wednesday, and he voiced his support of his friend and fellow coach, and he did it in typical Boeheim fashion. He pulled no punches whatsoever.
“The thing that Wojnarowski wrote was completely off-base,” Boeheim said. “The thing I hate about writers is they want to state their case and they use false information. He put in that Mike went to the hospital for publicity. Paul George’s parents took the picture. They put it out there. We had no cameraman. It was his parents. That was unbelievably low.”
The Syracuse head man also sounded off on the notion that Coach K uses his post as USA coach as a recruiting tool.
“You think that’s why they went to Duke?” Boeheim said. “Because Mike talked to them for five minutes? That’s a joke. Duke got better classes before he was a national coach than he is now. This last class is good. Before he started he had several top classes. Duke has been getting top players a long time. That can be proven.”
Woj really hit a touchy subject with that piece, but maybe that was his intention. But when you strike the nerve of Boeheim, you know you went to a different level.
