As if the NFL needed more bad news this week, it was announced on Wednesday that Arizona Cardinals running back Jonathan Dwyer had been arrested on a domestic violence charge. Now from police reports, we are learning a little bit more about the situation that allegedly took place back in July, and the story has a few details to it.

According to the Arizona Republic, police say that back in July, Dwyer was making sexual advances toward his wife. Well, she apparently wasn’t in the mood for that sort of activity at the time, so to detract the situation, she bit his lip. This is apparently when Dwyer then headbutted her and broke her nose.
Dwyer was arrested on Wednesday right at the team’s practice facility in Tempe. To avoid the type of scrutiny that the Minnesota Vikings, Baltimore Ravens and Carolina Panthers have had to their with, they immediately deactivated Dwyer from the roster just a few hours later.
This is just another black eye toward the NFL, in what has been a month in which they’ve taken about as many punches as they can take. The arrest of Dwyer comes right in the wake of the Adrian Peterson child abuse scandal, which came right in the wake of the Ray Rice ordeal. Those were just the two most high-profile cases. This isn’t to mention Greg Hardy and what the Panthers have had to deal with there.
Hopefully this is the last of these types of situations. However, if history has taught us anything, that unfortunately may not be the case.
