Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers will get their first shot at primetime action when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday night. The Panthers enter this one hoping to start the 2014 NFL season at 3-0, which would be quite impressive considering many wrote the Panthers off after their many personnel losses this past offseason. On the other side, the Steelers will be looking to bounce back after a disastrous 26-6 loss to the Baltimore Ravens last Thursday.

Keys to Victory
The Carolina Panthers needs to simply play its brand of football here. Carolina’s elite defense should be able to hold Ben Roethlisberger and Co. in check, so all it needs is a solid performance from Cam Newton and to take advantage of Pittsburgh’s poor rush defense to come away with this one.
For the Steelers, a rebound performance from its passing game is a must. It’s awfully difficult to beat Carolina on the ground, so Ben is going to have to win this one with his arm. Also, the Steelers can’t continue to allow 170 yards per game on the ground if it expects to win its second game of the year.
Betting Odds
Point Spread: Panthers (-3)
Moneyline: PIT: 160, CAR: -180
O/U: 42.0
Prediction
The Steelers just haven’t shown enough through two games for one to trust them on the road facing a tough team like Carolina. Newton and the Panthers should be able to put enough points on the board for their defense to lead them to a 3-0 start that few would have predicted at the start of the year.
Final Score: Panthers – 21 Steelers -14
